Breathalyzers For Alcohol Detection

Technology World

Breathalyzers are portable hand held devices that can be effectively used for onsite alcohol detection for students, employees, and DUI/DWI suspects on highways. Breathalyzers make the testing process easy and quick at schools, colleges, offices, and highways easy and quick. Breathalyzers provide an accurate result and helps to maintain safe and secure environment by preventing alcohol addiction related crime, accidents, and injuries. The breathalyzers measure the Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) by indirectly measuring the alcohol content in breath.

Here are some of the most common reasons why breathalyzers are widely used:

  1. It helps provide a safe environment for everyone – breathalyzers are used mainly to test the Blood Alcohol Concentration anywhere. This is commonly used ins schools and other institutions as well as in highways to randomly check and prevent accidents due to drunk-driving.
  2. Easily manageable while maintaining its efficiency – not only is the breathalyzer efficient, but it is also relatively easy to handle. It does not have any complicated controls, making the test easier to do and accomplish.
  3. It quickly generates accurate results – in testing for the Blood Alcohol Concentration, it is important to be as accurate as possible. The sensors in breathalyzers are extremely accurate, making it easy to determine whether the individual has a recent alcohol intake, or if the alcohol is still present in the blood.

Calibration

All breathalyzers indicate BAC (Breath Alcohol Concentration) based on the information stored in the sensor's memory. Exact values of certain specific BAC data are stored so that the sensor can provide the most accurate readings. Over time, however, these stored values lose accuracy as more tests are conducted. The stored sensor values deteriorate over time with continuous testing and external/ environmental effects. All breathalyzers must be recalibrated to refresh the sensor values and to allow the breathalyzer to obtain accurate readings.
